Plain man, mighty deeds

Dreamer of peace, forced down by Evil

Few men who find themselves from early in life without any friend or support manage to rise above the circumstances of their origins and become heroes. Mahalo of Lopsimia was one. His role in the cleansing of the Borderlands ensures him forever a place at the Hall of Heroes, but among his friends he will be remembered for the youthful hope of a Lopsimian street urchin, discovering what the world has to offer him.

There is a common view about his life, that banishing the forces of Chaos was everything. No one would play down the roles of his brethern in the company of the Headless Owlbear, fine adventurers who fought besides him, suffering the same hardships and goals. Their fellowship was deep, as of true siblings. But it was Mahalo of Lopsimia who stood in front of his fellows in that owlbear’s cave, risking his own neck and skin while slashing at the beast, whose claws and beak were much more powerful than his young and fragile human body.

Mahalo of Lopsimia was a man of action who believed in his people’s right for peace. Though he sacrificed so much, had he lived he would surely have sacrificed much more to bring rest to the fatigued Realm of Man, and their allies, the Elves, Dwarfs, and Halflings. His final act of courage, protecting his mates against bloodthirsty kobolds, was an example of the kinds of risks he took to protect his people.

Though it was not widely known, Mahalo of Lopsimia hoped to one day amass enough of the treasure stolen by the servants of Chaos, so that he could raise a Keep in Lopsimia, and train there an Army of Light that will banish Evil from the Realm of Man. How sad that his dream was cut down in its early beginnings.

May his sword continue to point the way to us all.
